General Information
Languages
The official language of the conference is English. There will be no simultaneous translation.
Passport / VISA
Turkey is a EU-member candidate state. No visa is needed for EU citizens, for non-EU citizens please contact the nearest Turkish Embassy. Visa is needed for citizens of nearly for all countries. So see your position below. Those who need an official invitation in order to obtain a visa for entering Turkey, contact us as soon as possible!

Letters of Invitation
Delegates requiring a letter of invitation in order to attend the Conference, may write to the administrative secretariat specifying the necessary details. Please note that this procedure aims explicitly at assisting delegates who need to obtain a visa or permission to attend the conference. It is not an official invitation covering fees and other expenses and does not imply any financial support from the conference organisers. The registration fee must be settled for delegates who wish to claim an invitation letter. PME35 cannot be held responsible for any matters related to obtaining visas.

Currency
The legal Turkish currency is Turkish Liras (TL) and Turkish Kurus(Kr),(100 Turkish Kurus= 1 Turkish Lira). For the actual rate, check "Central Bank Of the Republic of Turkey"s website.

Opening Hours
Government offices are open in weekdays from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, many bank branches close between 12:30am - 1.30pm for lunch. Supermarkets, shopping malls, restaurants are generally open from 10 am - 10 pm.

Weather and climate average for Ankara in July (during the conference period)is 28°C / 82°F in maximum and 12°C / 54°F in minimum.

Personal Insurance & Emergency
Personal insurance and accident insurance are recommended to all participants during their stay in Turkey . The Organizing Committee will not accept any responsibility in this respect but assistance will be provided in urgent cases. In case of illness or accident, contact the hotel reception or the registration desk at the Conferance venue.
TRIP PREPARATION
When To Come
Marmara, Aegean, and Mediterranean coasts: These coasts have a typical Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. The swimming season becomes shorter the further north one goes : Marmara and North Aegean - June to September; South Aegean and Mediterranean - April to October.
Black Sea Coast : Warm summers, mild winters, and relatively high rainfall.
Central Anatolia : Steppe climate with hot, dry summers; cold winters.
Eastern Anatolia : Long snowy cold winters with mild summers.
Southeast Anatolia : Hot summer with mild, rainy winters.
What To Wear
a) Marmara, Aegean, and Mediterranean coasts: Light, cotton summer clothing and cardigans for evening.
b) Black Sea, Central and Eastern Anatolia: Summer wear, warmer clothing should be taken for cool evenings at high altitudes.
c) Comfortable shoes are necessary for visiting archeological and historical sites.
d) Sun hats and sunglasses are advisable in the summer.
e) Headscarves should be brought by women for visiting mosques.
